What happens when you win Intuit’s Small Business Big Game competition and receive a 30-second commercial during Super Bowl? A whole lot of orders. And a whole lot of headaches if you don't have the systems to handle it all.

That is exactly what happened to Death Wish Coffee, the makers of the world's strongest coffee. They needed an operations software as strong as their brew, and Skubana delivered. One warehouse, two 3PLs, dozens of flash sales, hundreds of kitted products, and thousands of orders later, Death Wish is the epitome of efficiency when it comes to operations.

Now that we’ve integrated Skubana, we’ve yet to oversell one single item.




25x Sales Increase

After airing, more than 150,000 visitors hit Death Wish Coffee’s website. Sales that Super Bowl Sunday were 20 to 25 times higher than what they were on an average Sunday.


The Super Bowl commercial caused massive overselling. In the days following the ad, Death Wish reps were replying to an onslaught of customer emails and calling their suppliers to quickly reorder. Their product team was working late into the night. Everyone on the payroll, friends, and family were on the floor trying to package orders.


The logistics team was on the phone multiple times a day with their 3PL provider asking for inventory updates. The problem wasn’t having enough traction or willpower or caffeine. The problem was growth. The rapid increase in demand was going to put them out of business.

Meeting Skubana

After weeks of drowning in orders, the Head of Operations googled “Shopify inventory management” and came across an “operations platform company” called Skubana.  He got on the phone with the CEO and for the first time spoke with a person who knew how to solve his problems. The founder ran his own direct-to-consumer business and understood the nightmare he was experiencing for the past several weeks. Better yet, he had spent the past several years building a platform to solve those problems.


Trusting the person he spoke to on the phone and the software he had only glimpsed through screenshares, he took a leap of faith and moved his business to Skubana. Because of that, they saw an accurate inventory count for the first time. 


Because of that, they could prevent overselling.

Because of that, the team was able to focus on promotions, adding new products, integrating channels, creating a podcast, and more.

Until one day, they were selling on eight channels instead of two.
